In addition to 100,000 homeowners each being given a guaranteed £300 discount to trade-in their old boilers under a new boiler scrappage scheme, families could also save up to £250 a year on heating because new boilers are that much more energy-efficient.

There are over 4million old Band-G gas boilers pumping out harmful carbon emissions in the UK. Although these boilers are less than 70% efficient, most homeowners tend to only replace them when they actually finally fail.

It is estimated that if everyone converted to high efficiency boilers, enough energy would be saved to heat 3.4million, saving over a staggering 13million tons of Carbon.
